1. Scope
This policy applies to Chronet.gg, our forums, member profiles, support and staff-review systems, public punishment pages, and website features connected to Chronet-operated Garry's Mod servers. It does not govern independent third-party services merely because Chronet links to or integrates with them.
2. Information we collect
Steam account information
Chronet uses Steam authentication. When you sign in, we may receive and store your SteamID64, Steam display name, and Steam avatar. We do not receive or store your Steam password.
Community content and account activity
We may store information you create or generate through Chronet, including forum threads and replies, profile settings, profile banners, profile music links, notifications, reports, ban appeals, staff applications, evidence links, and related support or moderation history.
Game-server and enforcement records
Chronet game servers may synchronize warnings, kicks, bans, reasons, durations, server identifiers, issuing staff information, revocations, timestamps, and related appeal records with the website.
Technical and security information
Our hosting or infrastructure providers may process ordinary technical data such as IP addresses, browser or device information, requested pages, timestamps, error records, and security events. We use this information as reasonably necessary to operate, protect, troubleshoot, and maintain the service.
3. How we use information
We may use information to:
- authenticate and maintain Steam-linked community accounts;
- operate forums, member profiles, notifications, reports, appeals, applications, and staff tools;
- synchronize and display game-server punishment information;
- enforce community rules and investigate abuse, cheating, fraud, spam, ban evasion, or unauthorized access;
- respond to support requests and maintain moderation accountability;
- diagnose technical problems, protect service reliability, and improve functionality;
- comply with lawful obligations and protect Chronet, our users, and third parties.
4. Information that may be public
Chronet is a community platform. Depending on the feature, information such as your Steam display name, avatar, SteamID64, profile information, forum content, staff role, and public punishment information may be visible to other users or visitors.
Information posted publicly can be viewed, quoted, copied, indexed, or shared by others. Do not post sensitive information in public areas if you do not want it publicly visible.
5. Cookies and sessions
Chronet uses an essential session cookie to maintain authenticated website sessions and keep signed-in users connected to their account. This cookie is used for service functionality and security, not third-party behavioral advertising. Blocking essential cookies may prevent account features from working.
Embedded or linked third-party services may use their own cookies, local storage, or similar technologies under their own policies.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not currently sell personal information. We may share or permit access to information only when reasonably necessary, including:
- Authorized Chronet staff who need information for moderation, support, administration, or security.
- Service providers that provide hosting, infrastructure, security, authentication, content delivery, or other operational services.
- Legal and safety matters when disclosure is required by valid legal process or reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or threats to rights or safety.
- Organizational changes if operation or ownership of Chronet is lawfully transferred or reorganized.
- At your direction when you intentionally use a feature that sends or displays information to another person or service.
7. Third-party services
Chronet may interact with third-party services including Steam for authentication, Discord for community links or widgets, YouTube for supported profile media, content-delivery providers, hosting providers, and game-related services. Those services operate independently and may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Chronet is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of an independent third-party service.
8. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the community, provide requested features, preserve moderation integrity, resolve disputes, prevent repeated abuse, protect account and server security, and satisfy applicable legal obligations.
Different records may be retained for different periods. Moderation and punishment history may need to remain available longer than ordinary session information so staff can review bans, appeals, repeat violations, and prior decisions accurately. Backups and security logs may also persist for a limited period after active information is changed or removed.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information under our control. Administrative and moderation features are restricted by account permissions, and authenticated sessions use security controls designed to reduce unauthorized access.
No website, server, database, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your Steam account, devices, and any linked third-party accounts.
10. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on your location, applicable law may give you rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. We may need to verify that you control the relevant Steam account before completing a request.
Requests are handled subject to applicable law and the rights of other users. We may retain information when reasonably necessary for moderation, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or other lawful purposes.
11. Children's privacy
Chronet is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. Users must also comply with the age requirements of Steam and other third-party services they use. If you believe information from a child has been collected improperly, contact us so the matter can be reviewed.
12. Changes to this policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy when our website, game servers, integrations, security practices, or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes may also be announced through an appropriate official Chronet channel.
13. Contact
Privacy questions or requests may be submitted through the Chronet.gg Support page or another official Chronet support channel.
